The Mirror Bar,
Swissôtel Métropole, Geneva
This bar, off the main lobby of the Metropole Hotel in Geneva, claims to have great views of the lake just over the road. I suspect this opinion is only expressed by rather tall contortionists.
What it lacks in a view for my less irregularly built self it makes up for by being in the same continent as myself most of the time. Sure, the drinks are pricey but the cocktail list is extensive and inventive and the nibbles are excellent. There are plenty of comfy armchairs and two awesome sofas in this almost traditional club style bar, perfect for enjoying a quiet drink with your feet up. Service is excellent, the soundtrack unobtrusive and it seldom seems to get terribly busy and never noisy.
Whether meeting a mate for a few drinks, chilling out with a book for an hour or shamelessly eavesdropping on other drinkers, I love this place.
